I was recently bought a Cisco 7960 IP phone for my home office. Unfortunately i know nothing about VoIP. Now as it turns out this was a spare unit, and as such i dont have the Call Manager and am rather lost with the setup. The phone just says "Configuring IP".

The phone is hooked up to a Netgear DG834G, and i have a voiptalk.org account, which requires SIP

If someone could talk me through the process i would appreciate it

This Link (http://www.cisco.com/E-Learning/bulk/public/celc/7960_Tutorial/index.html) might help to use the phone! ;)

But will look into how to set it up for you and post here.

Manually Configure the Phone Network Settings

Complete these steps in order to manually configure the phone network settings:

Press the **# buttons in order to unlock the phone. (This step either locks or unlocks the options, based on the current state.)
Press Settings.
Press the down arrow in order to select Network Configuration and press the Select softkey. There is an unlocked padlock icon in the upper-right portion of your LCD.
Use the toggle button and the arrow keys in order to modify any parameters. When you enter IP addresses, the * key is used for decimal points.
Press the Save softkey in order to save your changes.
Note: In order to lock the phone settings, press **#.

This is bit of a hard one as the model and make you have are quite a hard setup and won't be easy for first time VoIp users either. Very high spec!!

Personally I'd sell it and opt for a more user friendly phone from SNOM or SIEMENS
