pimg src=http://static.fiercemarkets.com/public/headshots/doug100.jpg alt= align=right /Since we jumped onto the Twitter bandwagon at the beginning of March, the micro-blogging, 140 character phenomenon has shifted into high gear. We hope the little company finds a business model before it runs out of money and servers. nbsp;/p pJust take a look at the people and organizations who have hit the tweet line over the last two months---/p pATamp;T, Comcast, and Qwest are all using Twitter to communicate with their customers, with the two former companies leveraging it to notify people about service interruptions. Time Warner Cable's VP of PR has tweeted snarkily about no bandwidth tiers, no DOCSIS 3.0 - a comment that might get the company an invitation to Capitol Hill, with a reception reserved for auto makers and bankers./p pAshton and Oprah./p pStop laughing. Ashton seems to be gravitating to the bleeding edge of technology, like the 21supst/sup century version of Adam Curry. Oprah wrapped her arms around Skype earlier this year, so for her to start tweeting is some sort of socio-techno milestone. nbsp;/p pFEMA is ready to Twitter when disaster strikes, along with the CDC, FDA, and NIH. The U.S. State Department is tweeting, and Iraqis are being encouraged to Twitter as a way to promote a free press and democracy./p pAt the state and local level, The Los Angeles Fire Department is tweeting about fires, and the Washington State Department of Transportation will use Twitter to off-load traffic from its website in case of emergency./p pCrazy, but crazy in mostly a good way./p pThe FierceVoIP twitter feed has been in operation for two months. If you've been following it for a while, I'd appreciate your feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly via email or a direct tweet./p p- a href=mailto:doug@fiercemarkets.comDoug/a/p
