Nimbuzz users have been requested to hang up on Skype, in the latest third party app requested to leave from the VoIP provider. Much like Fring a few weeks ago, Skype has requested that Nimbuzz end its connection to Skype services.

Nimbuzz aggregates user identities across numerous applications on the net allowing consumers to connect to friends through voice calls and chat on Skype, Windows Live Messenger (MSN), Yahoo IM, ICQ, AIM, GoogleTalk, Facebook and MySpace. Well, at least it used to, as now they will be scratching Skype off that list. The company believes the move on Skype's part is in line with their impending IPO and their need to minimize third-party apps use of their system. Skype also recently launched its software on all Android phones where Nimbuzz would also be threatening its market-share.

According to a Skype spokesperson, the Nimbuzz application was in violation of Skype's API Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (EULA). Skype offered to meet with Nimbuzz and discuss the issue, but Nimbuzz did not take them up on the offer. According to Skype, they have certain rules that guide the development of apps using the SDK and API and those rules protect the Skype brand and our end user experience. Looks like Skype's latest moves are a way to rein in and unify the user experience on their software platform.

Of course, recently it is not like Skype hasn't been pushing some third-party integration. They made a particularly big splash with their Facebook integration, but the deal was certainly one where Skype and Facebook met and discussed how both companies would benefit from the service. It looks like with the latest move to drop Nimbuzz and its previous falling out with Fring, Skype is dropping players that hook in through their API in favor of making deals over the boardroom table with companies who want to work with Skype and share profits--and Nimbuzz didn't come to the table.
