Newby - help with domestic VOIP please

Hi,
as you will be able to tell from the following, I am new to this and would appreciate some advice please . . . .

I have a residential (home) application that I'm trying to implement and not sure how to go about it. I currently have an analogue PBX with ~8 extensions, connected to a single PSTN line. The quality of the PBX is pretty poor and I want to replace it, ideally with a VOIP solution. I have an extensive network of CAT6 in the house, cabled back to patch panels and gigabit switches.

At this stage, I don't want to go for an end-to-end VOIP solution, but would like the flexibility to do that later. What I envisage at the moment is to have an internal VOIP network, with the same number of extensions in the house, all interfaced to the existing PSTN line. I want to be able to make internal inter-extension calls and make / receive external calls from any extention. I guess that I would need some sort of VOIP to PSTN interface but am not sure what I need or whether such a thing is easily available (and affordable) for domestic use.

I'd really appreciate any advice or pointers to where I can get the info that I need

hi!

there is a voip box which will allow you to use voip lines and pstn lines at the same time. you still can use the same extension. all you just need to do is to configure SIP on your voip box, and set each ectension for SIP settings.
